photographer on a futile endeavour to capture everyday lives in extraordinary places.
I am an amateur photographer, doing my photography as a hobby next to my work in challenging environments. I started taking photography more seriously in 2019 in Sierra Leone. For the past years, I have worked in Africa and the Middle East, particularly in Lebanon, Kenya and Somalia.
I’ve documented the aftermath of natural disasters in Freetown, haunted structures in Beirut’s urban history and refugee camps in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley. Most recently I spent over a year in Somalia, where I was granted limited access to some of the most securitized areas in Africa.
I studied cultural anthropology at the University of Utrecht, followed by a MA in conflict studies and human rights.
